About Me

Thank you for visiting my page! I originally set this page up during a WordPress class and as I have just finished a Google Digital Marketing and E-Commerce course I am updating this page to better reflect my work experiences.

My education/degree is in high school education however after graduation, while I did part-time substituting, I was unable to find permanent employment. After giving up my hope of finding a teaching job I returned to retail in a management position.

Several years, and two moves, later I found myself employed but actively wanting to focus on my future and finding a career I would enjoy. After several job changes that helped me identify what I am looking for, I applied for the Assistant Marketing position for the Mall. It was perfect for me! It combined all my experience in retail with all my office/organizational experience and my love of being creative and interacting with people.

That position was perfect for me. I spent my days setting up displays, working with tenants and community members on events/activities that take place in the mall and I worked to advertise it all! I learned so much in that position while having a lot of fun and I knew that was the career for me.

I really enjoyed the connection and outreach of marketing. Working at the Conestoga Mall gave me experience working in traditional and digital marketing for promoting all the Mall events/activities. Working with the tenants and community members to form and cultivate partnerships that benefited everyone was something I found to be truly rewarding.

I have been adding to my skills, and work experiences, in marketing ever since. This road has unfortunately been a rocky one. After 2 years at the Mall my position was eliminated when the ownership changed. I was rehired as the Marketing Director however that position was also eliminated a year later. I took a position at Chief that allowed me to learn the back-of-house jobs of marketing by running their print shop and small vinyl department. Unfortunately these jobs were all being outsourced and my position eliminated a year later. I then took the marketing position for Sodexo on the UNK campus however once classes became virtual due to Covid I was laid off. While marketing jobs were difficult to find in my small town pre-Covid they are even harder to find now.

I have spent the last couple of years being active on FB and LinkedIn with my Marketing groups and taking courses to keep up with the marketing world and continue to grow my skills
